Before you audition, please read through these frequently asked questions.

Who can apply?

I welcome submissions from emerging talent, experienced performers, and real people ages 4 and up.

Applicants must be Canadian residents or legally authorized to work in Canada with a valid work permit.

Do I need acting experience?

Experience isn’t required. Many successful commercial performers come from sports, music, dance, theatre, improv, content creation, or simply have a natural ability to connect on camera.

What equipment do I need?

Most auditions can be completed with a smartphone, a reliable internet connection, and access to a computer or tablet. Good natural light and a simple tripod will improve your self-tapes, but you don’t need expensive equipment to get started.

What qualities are you looking for?

I’m looking for people who connect naturally on camera. Personality, warmth, curiosity, and the ability to take direction often matter more than experience.

The strongest commercial performers make the viewer feel like they’re talking to a trusted friend. Authenticity, relatability, and genuine human connection are the cornerstones of successful commercial storytelling. In a world increasingly shaped by AI and polished perfection, audiences are craving something real. They connect with people who feel genuine.

Can families apply together?

Absolutely. Commercial casting frequently looks for real families, siblings, couples, and authentic relationships on camera.

If your family has great chemistry together, I encourage everyone to submit.

What qualities are you looking for in children?

Children who can quickly engage, take direction, and comfortably interact with new people often do very well in commercial auditions.

Can I be represented by another acting agency?

Generally, no. Most commercial agents in Vancouver and Toronto receive many of the same casting opportunities, so having multiple acting agents can create duplicate submissions and confusion for casting. Separate representation for voice, modelling, or other specialty work may be appropriate if there is no overlap.

Casting moves quickly. Self-tape requests can arrive with as little as 12 hours’ notice, with most deadlines falling within 24 to 48 hours. Most initial auditions are completed by self-tape from home, while some projects may require an in-person audition or callback at a casting studio during regular business hours, Monday to Friday.

For children, parents are an important part of the process. Auditions, callbacks, fittings, and bookings may happen during school hours or weekdays, so flexibility, transportation, prompt communication, and a supportive attitude all help set your child up for success.

How much time and flexibility does acting & auditioning require?

What happens during an audition?

Most auditions are relaxed and welcoming. You may be asked to answer a few questions, perform a short script, memorize a few lines, react naturally, improvise a simple scenario, or interact with other performers. Casting directors are looking to see your personality, how you take direction, and how you connect on camera.

What makes a successful commercial performer?

Successful commercial performers are professional, collaborative, and enjoyable to work with. They have a distinct on-camera presence, connect naturally with the audience, and know how to make a moment feel genuine, even with the volume off and the option to skip the ad.

They listen well, take direction with ease, adapt quickly, and bring consistency to every take. Those qualities, combined with authentic on-camera presence, are what make talent valuable to casting directors, clients, and creative teams.
